The starting point of interpersonal communication in Islamic culture is greetings as verbal and some non-verbal acts that are mainly based on touching, hugging, etc. which are highly recommended. In the case of infectious diseases, various types of touch communication can provide the ground for transmission, such as short distance communication. The question that arises in the days of the outbreak of these diseases is what is the duty of the believer in beginning to communicate with others or with the afflicted ones? This study analyzes the issue by emphasizing on COVID-19 with the method of ijtihadi analysis exploring the jurisprudential documents. The author concluded that in such cases any close touch that causes disease transmission is forbidden, but as the latest research has shown the corona virus, which causes COVID-19, does not remain on surface, Therefore, the emphatic recommendation of handshake is still valid.
